Kian Egan, former member of the iconic boy band Westlife, has shared that his former bandmate Brian McFadden will most likely not be invited to rejoin the group for any future reunions. Despite years of requests from their devoted fanbase for a Westlife comeback, Kian explained that, while he would love to perform with the group again, it’s unlikely that Brian will be a part of it.
Brian McFadden, who was one of the original five members of Westlife, left the band in 2004 to pursue a solo career. Since then, the remaining members—Kian, Shane Filan, Markus Feehily, and Nicky Byrne—continued as a quartet until Westlife disbanded in 2012.
Kian opened up about the situation, admitting that, in his opinion, Brian would not be invited back to perform with the group. “He walked out after however many years and went off and did his own thing,” Kian explained. He added that, given the group’s history, it would feel “more natural” for Westlife to return as a foursome.
The remaining members of Westlife have continued their careers after the band’s breakup, and Brian McFadden has released four solo albums and now performs as part of the duo Boyzlife with former Boyzone member Keith Duffy. Despite rumors that Westlife might reunite soon, Kian clarified that no such reunion is in the works.
However, Kian expressed his love for the idea of returning to the stage with Westlife. “I love the idea of standing on stage with Westlife again and singing the songs. Of course, I do,” he said, emphasizing how special that chapter of his life was. Though there has been no official reunion announcement, Kian remains hopeful that one day, Westlife might take the stage together again.
