Boyzone star Keith Duffy has sparked fresh speculation about a possible reunion of the iconic ’90s boyband—while also making a subtle dig at former bandmate Brian McFadden’s original group, Westlife.
Speaking ahead of the premiere of the new documentary Boyzone: No Matter What, which revisits the band’s storied rise to fame, Duffy shared his thoughts on getting the group back together. He appeared alongside fellow Boyzone members Ronan Keating and Shane Lynch at the Dublin screening, igniting fan hopes for another performance from the beloved Irish band.
When asked during an interview with 98FM if he’d be open to a Boyzone reunion, Keith didn’t hesitate. “Absolutely,” he said. “Listen, I’m very busy. I’m touring at the moment with Brian McFadden—we’re doing a sold-out tour, and our show is great.” The singer-turned-actor was referring to his current musical project Boyzlife, a duo formed with McFadden that blends the greatest hits of Boyzone and Westlife.
Duffy, however, couldn’t resist throwing a little shade in Westlife’s direction while talking up Boyzlife’s success. “We’re nine years together now and we have a great thing going,” he remarked, highlighting the longevity of the duo. The comment seemed to subtly contrast the current harmony in Boyzlife with past tensions or splits among Westlife members.
Still, Duffy made it clear that Boyzone isn’t entirely in the rear-view mirror for him. Reflecting on the experience of performing with his former bandmates, he added, “To get the opportunity to stand on stage again with Ronan and Shane and do Boyzone stuff… yeah, I’d be up for it one more time.”
While Shane Lynch has previously stated that Boyzone won’t reunite for new music, Keith’s openness to “one more time” suggests that fans haven’t seen the last of the band just yet—at least not on stage.
