“If It Felt Right”—Why Harry Styles Says a One Direction Reunion Could Happen

Years after One Direction’s hiatus — and now, in the wake of Liam Payne’s tragic passing — Harry Styles has shared that a reunion is still possible, and it’s giving fans a fresh wave of hope.

In a now-resurfaced 2022 interview on the Spout podcast, Styles said he’s open to the idea of reuniting with his former bandmates, citing the right timing and mutual interest as key factors.

“I don’t know, I think the thought of it is really nice,” Harry said at the time. “I’d love for there to be a time where it felt like something we all wanted to do.”

He added, “We all went through something really special together and there’s a lot of love there… so yeah, I think if there’s a moment for us to do it in the right way, I think it’d be great.”

This emotional optimism now feels even more poignant after the sudden death of bandmate Liam Payne in October 2024. As the One Direction fanbase mourns and reflects, Styles’ words resonate more deeply than ever.

Zayn Malik, who left the group in 2015, recently opened up in a candid interview about the reasons behind the band’s breakup. He admitted the members had simply “gotten sick of each other” after years of constant touring and pressure. But he also expressed peace and reflection about the journey they shared.

Though past tensions — including public digs between Liam and Zayn, and revelations of rifts among members — have clouded reunion hopes before, Styles’ emphasis on love and timing keeps the dream alive.

With fans holding out hope, and nostalgia for One Direction only growing, the door isn’t closed. As Harry said, “if the moment is right,” the music could bring them back together once again
