Liam Payne’s Friend Roger Nores Sues Singer’s Dad for Defamation

Roger Nores, a close friend of the late Liam Payne, has filed a defamation lawsuit against Geoff Payne, Liam’s father. The federal lawsuit, which was filed in Florida on Wednesday and later shared with Rolling Stone, claims that Geoff made false and damaging statements about Nores to an Argentine prosecutor investigating Liam’s death. According to Nores, these statements caused him significant harm, with damages exceeding $10 million.

In the lawsuit, Nores clarifies that all financial proceeds from the case will be donated to Liam’s son, Bear, emphasizing his intent to support his late friend’s family. “All proceeds will go to my friend’s son,” Nores explained in an interview with Rolling Stone on Thursday. He further expressed his frustration with Geoff, stating that the elder Payne’s claims were inaccurate. Nores firmly stated, “Geoff needs to retract his sworn statement as he knows full well I wasn’t Liam’s nurse or caretaker. Liam, whom I miss every day, was my dear friend and a free-spirited, brilliant man who lived life on his terms.”

The 263-page legal document outlines Nores’ accusations that Geoff Payne made misleading and false statements, while leaving out critical details in his sworn declarations to Argentine authorities. These statements, while made to officials in Argentina, are claimed to have spread to the Palm Beach County area in Florida, leading to reputational harm and damages in the region.

This lawsuit sheds light on the tense situation surrounding Liam Payne’s passing and reveals the ongoing legal battles between those close to the singer and his family. With Nores seeking to clear his name, the legal proceedings are set to continue, drawing attention to the complexities surrounding Liam’s personal life and his relationships with those around him.
