It’s official — Rush is gearing up for a massive reunion in 2026, and this time, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson are shaking things up in the best possible way. The band’s upcoming “Fifty Something Tour” already has fans buzzing with excitement, but according to Lee, there may be even more surprises ahead — including a few new faces joining the stage.
Right now, the lineup includes Lee, Lifeson, and new drummer Anika Nilles, who’s stepping into the legendary spot once held by Neil Peart, the band’s late and irreplaceable percussion genius. But Lee says the group is looking to “add another musician or two” to expand their sound and give him and Lifeson a bit more freedom to play — or as he jokingly put it, “to show off some of our fancy new dance steps.”
At a private event held at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Lee shared that performing with extra musicians at Taylor Hawkins’ tribute shows sparked the idea. “When Greg Kurstin played keyboards for those gigs, it was such a relief not to be glued to one spot,” Lee said. “That’s the kind of energy we want to bring back. We’re still figuring out the details, but that’s the direction we’re headed.”
Meanwhile, Peart’s family — his widow Carrie Nuttall-Peart and daughter Olivia Peart — have given their full support to this next chapter. In a heartfelt statement, they praised Neil’s unmatched artistry and expressed their excitement for the band’s return: “As the band enters this new chapter, it promises to be truly unforgettable. We are excited to see how their new vision unfolds, and to hear this legendary music played live once again.”
The “Fifty Something Tour” kicks off June 7, 2026, in Los Angeles, and fans are already speculating who might join the lineup. From Les Claypool to Danny Carey, Matt Cameron, or even Dave Grohl, the possibilities are thrilling — and the thought of Lee and Lifeson back on stage, carrying Rush’s legacy forward, feels nothing short of epic.
