Westlife has shared a surprising and heartfelt update following a recent visit to their beloved bandmate Mark Feehily. As the group gears up for their 25th anniversary special shows at the iconic Royal Albert Hall, their latest announcement has struck a chord with fans worldwide.
Despite Mark being forced to take a temporary break from performances due to serious health challenges, the band has made it clear they are standing by him every step of the way. The touching visit proves that Mark has not been left behind and remains an integral part of the Westlife journey.
In a statement posted on their social media handle, the iconic Irish boyband—comprised of Shane Filan, Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, and Mark Feehily—expressed both excitement and emotion as they prepare to mark a quarter-century since their first world tour kicked off in Newcastle back in February 2001.
“Who would have thought we’d still be here 25 years later?” the band wrote. “We have so many exciting plans to share with you very soon, which will include new music, an album, special shows, and many more surprises along the way.”
However, the announcement was tinged with sadness as the group confirmed Mark’s absence. “Sadly, Mark will be unable to join the celebrations. We hope he can return to the stage when he is ready and able. He sends his love and positivity to you all, as always,” they shared.
Mark, 48, stepped back from the group in early 2024 due to serious health issues stemming from complications following surgery in 2020. He revealed in a previous statement that he had contracted sepsis during recovery, which required emergency intervention and a long hospital stay. Isolated during COVID-19 restrictions and separated from his fiancé and infant daughter, it was a trying time both physically and emotionally.
Despite returning briefly for performances, Mark developed further complications—including a hernia—that led to his fourth major surgery. Ultimately, he made the difficult but necessary decision to step back from touring to prioritize his health and family.
Fans have continued to send their support, and the band has made it clear that Mark remains an integral part of Westlife. Their recent visit to him ahead of the anniversary tour is a powerful reminder of the brotherhood that has kept them going for 25 years.
As the remaining trio prepares to take the stage at London’s Royal Albert Hall and other venues, their message is clear: this celebration is not just about music—it’s about loyalty, resilience, and the enduring connection they share with each other and their fans.
