Westlife Announces Final World Tour 2025 Spanning 50 Countries and Teases New Album: Shane Filan Opens Up on Nicky Byrne’s Live Podcast

July 17, 2025 - by Aboga Desmond - Leave a Comment

In a bittersweet announcement that has sent shockwaves through the music world, beloved Irish pop band Westlife has officially revealed plans for their Final World Tour 2025, a globe-spanning farewell set to touch the hearts of millions of fans across 50 countries. The iconic boyband, known for hits like Flying Without Wings, You Raise Me Up, and World of Our Own, is also teasing a brand-new album—their final musical chapter—promising fans a powerful blend of nostalgia and new beginnings.

The news was unveiled during a special live podcast hosted by none other than band member Nicky Byrne, where fellow Westlife frontman Shane Filan joined him for an emotional and revealing conversation. In the hour-long episode, the duo looked back at the band’s 25-year legacy, hinted at the tone of the upcoming album, and candidly discussed why 2025 feels like the right time to bid farewell.

“It’s About Going Out on a High”

Speaking on the podcast, Shane Filan shared heartfelt thoughts about the decision to bring Westlife’s touring years to a close:

“This isn’t goodbye to the music, not entirely—but it’s goodbye to the road, to the endless flights, the airports, the tour buses. We’ve given our lives to this for over two decades, and we’ve loved every minute. But now it’s time to take a bow.”

Shane emphasized that the decision was mutual and carefully considered by all four members—Shane Filan, Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, and Mark Feehily—especially after reflecting on their reunion success post-2018 and the momentum they’ve maintained ever since.

The band, which originally disbanded in 2012 and reunited in 2018, has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity with new albums, sold-out arena tours, and a strong presence on streaming platforms. Their 2022 album Wild Dreams marked a mature evolution of their sound, blending orchestral pop with personal storytelling.

The Final World Tour: 50 Countries, Thousands of Memories

Billed as “The Westlife Forever Tour”, the farewell journey will kick off in March 2025 in Dublin, their hometown, with back-to-back shows at Croke Park—a symbolic bookend to their extraordinary career.

The tour will then span Europe, Asia, North America, South America, Australia, Africa, and parts of the Middle East, covering over 100 shows. The band has promised that each concert will be “a celebration, not a goodbye”—packed with fan favorites, emotional tributes, and surprise collaborations.

“We’re going all out,” Nicky Byrne teased. “We want every fan—whether they’ve been with us since 1999 or just discovered us yesterday—to feel the magic one last time.”

Pre-sale tickets are expected to go live in early August, with general sales beginning shortly after. Ticketing details, VIP experiences, and city-by-city tour dates will be released via the band’s official website and social media platforms.

New Album Teased: “A Love Letter to the Fans”

Perhaps the most exciting element of the announcement is the upcoming studio album, tentatively scheduled for release in early 2025. While the band has remained tight-lipped about the title and tracklist, Shane offered a glimpse of its emotional depth.

“This album is going to be a love letter—to the fans, to the journey, and to each other,” he said. “It’s honest, reflective, and full of hope. It’s not a sad goodbye—it’s us saying, ‘Thank you, and we’re okay.’”

Produced by a mix of long-time collaborators and new international names, the album is said to feature anthemic ballads, stripped-back acoustic moments, and even a few up-tempo surprises. Rumors suggest one track will include a vocal tribute to their late bandmate and dear friend, Stephen Gately of Boyzone.

Brotherhood Beyond the Music

In one of the most touching segments of the podcast, Shane spoke openly about the deep bond the members share off-stage.

“We’ve been through marriages, births, loss, personal battles, and major comebacks. We’re more than bandmates—we’re brothers. That doesn’t end with the last tour date.”

Nicky echoed the sentiment, calling the band’s friendship “the real success story.”

“We’ve stayed grounded, we’ve had our moments, but we’ve always found our way back. Westlife isn’t just a brand—it’s family.”

What’s Next After the Curtain Falls?

While 2025 marks the end of Westlife’s world tours, the members have hinted that individual projects, from music and media to mentorship and charity, are on the horizon. Nicky is expected to continue expanding his podcast and television career, while Shane has expressed interest in mentoring young Irish musicians.

As for Kian and Mark, both have hinted at future solo ventures and production work. Despite going their separate ways professionally, the band members have made it clear they’ll always be “just a phone call away” from reuniting—whether for special causes, charity events, or the occasional one-off performance.

A Legacy Written in Harmony

Since their debut in 1999, Westlife has sold over 55 million records, achieved 14 UK number-one singles, and performed for millions around the world. Their songs have soundtracked weddings, breakups, first dances, and everything in between.

The Final World Tour 2025 and upcoming album represent not an end, but a culmination—a final chapter in one of pop music’s most enduring stories.

Fans can expect tears, laughter, and unforgettable moments as Westlife takes their final bow—not as four young lads from Sligo and Dublin, but as global icons who never lost their harmony.
